All editor/author royalties from the sale of Doctor Who and Race (8% of net receipts) will be donated to charitable organisations. Specifically, they will be split evenly between two charities: AVERT and Médecins Sans Frontières. The contributors unanimously agreed on this decision and we are very proud to be supporting these outstanding humanitarian organisations.
AVERT is an international HIV and AIDS charity working to avert HIV and AIDS through education, treatment and care. AVERT operates a comprehensive website, www.avert.org, which is one of the most popular HIV and AIDS websites in the world, educating millions of people each year. It also partners and supports organisations working in areas where the impact of HIV and AIDS is most acute, and AVERT’s Information and Advocacy Service provides much needed help and advice in the UK to the general public.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. MSF combines the provision of emergency medical care with a commitment to speaking out about the suffering people endure and the obstacles encountered in providing assistance. MSF offers assistance to people based only on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.
